Why am I doing this?

Hi, my name is Hannes van Eeden, also known as the Wandering Ambivert, living in Cape Town, South Africa.

What is an Ambivert? It is a person who has a balance of extrovert and introvert features in their personality.

Here I share my natureΒ films. The films I make isn’t about – the films. It isn’t about how ‘good‘ it can be. It’s about how it makes you feel and what it means to you.

My intentions are to make you feel calm and relaxed. I also want to bring nature to you and make you appreciate it even more. Saying that, I also encourage you to keep nature clean and free from trash otherwise, my videos might become history documentaries.

Although I am studying Industrial Psychology, I consider myself an Outdoor lifestyle photographer and film-maker.

I am the guy with a camera wandering around his own country like a tourist, but I prefer to wander around where not many people have been.

This is a place where I share my perspective of the world.

If you appreciate my work and you’d like to join me in creating it, support my work through Patreon.

  2. Awesome ! I think it is so interesting while vulnerable to share the world through our lenses and let others take the lead as well . Congrats for your amazing sensitivity to the daily invisibility : the magic of nature . I love the fact that you’re exploring people’s consciousness through their own outlook on things . I always say that” being in nature is more than a meditation ;It is being a witness to the sacred beauty we are experiencing , letting her harmony dancing with our soul and allowing us to come back to our inner-peaceful state through contemplation, gratitude and quietness”. Mary Jokes . Thanks for this beautiful reminder you illustrate through your work! Welcome on WordPress and in the blogging world ,and never let the world steal your magic πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you so much. Nature is such a wonderful thing and never stops to amaze me. I love your definition of what nature is. I absolutely agree! That is why we should definitely take better care of it. My next video will be about that. Yes, the purpose of my films is to bring the beauty of nature to people, but also to make them aware of the fact that they should take care of it, otherwise there will be very little left and my videos will become part of a history documentary. (Yes, I’m exaggerating a bit, but you get my point πŸ™‚ ) And thank you so much!

  3. Also I ‘m curious to know what do you mean by Industrial Psychology and what drove you you study it ? Why not studying the nature if it is your passion and film making like documentaries for instance but for tv .Now human nature is interesting but I don’t get the term “Industrial” Is it psychology at the work place, a non-humanistic kind of psychology or do you mean traditional white blouse psychology ?

    1. Industrial psychology focuses on the workplace yes πŸ™‚ I did try and study a little bit at a film school, but as a talked to people who were already in the industry, I soon realized that what I really wanted to do with film isn’t available in the industry. I was told I should rather do it on my own, for example, YouTube. There aren’t any limits to what I can do. I can create any film I want and share it with millions if not billions of people, and that’s good enough for me. Even if just a handful of people watch my videos and it makes them happy, feel good and give them a deeper appreciation for nature, I’ve achieved what I wanted to achieve. I wouldn’t mind making nature films and taking pictures of nature full time and sharing it with the world, maybe someday, but I also have an interest in psychology. I love working with people. Maybe my psychology sessions will consist of me taking my passient out somewhere in nature and walk and talk instead of sitting in a room for an hour or two.

  4. Hi there, thanx for the quiet calm moments.
abouth hidden gems though…i live in Luxembourg, a very very small place, and while i was having a training to become a tourist guide, some instructor told us that, in order to make the tour unique and interesting, i should show people my “hidden gems”, the places i go to to get away from the noisy polluted rest..
and it made me wonder…about where i was going to hide from it all once all the gems are revealed, souvenir shops installed everywhere, green ecological eateries everywhere…but no more intimacy with nature for me…

    1. It’s my pleasure! I’m so glad to hear you enjoy it πŸ™‚ I absolutely agree with that. I will also not share all the hidden gems I know of. I’ll show the pictures and the films, but I won’t reveal the location to everyone. We don’t deserve this beautiful nature. That’s why I will try to make people appreciate it more and also make them more aware of the fact that they should look after it otherwise the films I make won’t be able to exist.

  5. Hannes,
I wasn’t aware of the communications tab in WordPress until I stumbled upon it just now. I note that you have tried to contact me. I would like to visit with you too. Either by email or possibly by WhatsApp. Maybe even via Zoom video conference. I just need to know your email address or other method (not Phone). We are a number of hours apart on the world clock so it may be interesting to see who is ahead of who. email is much more forgiving in that way than video or even texts. Anyway I wanted to let you know that I’d like very much to discuss blogs, marketing, photography, movie making, music, poetry. love, and even religion, anything, JUST not politics! Agreed?

  6. I look forward to seeing your photography and reading your perspective. I lived in CT as a child and then we moved to PMB where I lived for 18 years. My mum and brother are still there. Small world.

  7. Hello. Thank you very much for the “Like” on my website. You’re the first person who has done so, and I really appreciate it.
I can tell from you videos and photographs that we share a lot of things in common! Right now I’m still trying to find my voice, so to speak. It’s amazing some of the things a video camera can do in altering the perspective of time! Good luck to you, because it’s always great to find someone who likes to record beauty for the rest of the world.

  8. Many thanks for dropping by my blog Hannes. I like your perspectives on nature and raising awareness that we all have a part to play if we wish to experience the natural world. I believe the disconnect between humans and their natural environment is causing a lot of depression and anxiety we are seeing among so many people. Even extroverts love to escape to the wilderness occasionally. Keep up the great work.

    1. It’s my pleasure πŸ™‚ Exactly. We all have a part to play. That’s one of the reasons I started sharing these videos. I want to bring nature to people and hopefully make them appreciate it more and make them aware that we should take care of it.

  9. Hi Hans, you’ve got an inspiring mission and I wish you every success. Being blind, I can’t appreciate the films you are creating, but I trust your work is inspiring others to connect with and respect the wonders of our natural world.

Take care and thanks for stopping by my blog!

  10. Some people take pictures or video and yet seem to lack the “eye” of what is truly being taken. You have a gift. Use it well to reveal to us all, what you see in our world, that we do not see and help us to learn to look at nature in a different way than we do today. Blessings.

  11. Thank you for the new term – I have been using “introverted extrovert.” Ambivert is much better. I express better with words and love your ability to share images and visuals. Really…industrial psychology? I am an industrial hygienist and work collaboratively with IO and OHP researchers. Keep it up!

    1. Thank you so much. I have found that it’s a very good dopamine word. When I mention it most people are very interested to hear more about it. Yes. I love working with people, but then I also need my walks with nature. Have a wonderful day! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much. I genuinely appreciate it. I do hope it’s more than just meant for me. I want it more to be for other people and their pleasure. People who are not able to experience the beauty of nature because of certain circumstances, or people who’ve forgotten the beauty of nature. People who stress, are anxious, depressed, feel lost. I want these films to bring a sense of calmness over them πŸ™‚
